Please Support Heather Duby - November 26th

NOVEMBER 26TH

Damn conflicting schedules. Our tours generally get booked about 4 months in advance, and after all that planning and coordinating sometimes it just so happens that we’re up against another amazing show going on that night. Case in point, our Seattle show at Neumo’s on November 26th coincides with a very important event across town at the Crocodile Cafe. Our friends in Helms Alee are taking part in a benefit concert for our friend Heather Duby. Heather toured with Russian Circles and Minus The Bear back in 2006. Brian filled in on bass for a few of her shows when she was still based out of Seattle. She still comes out and occasionally puts us up at her apartment in Jersey City when we play NYC. She’s an amazing person with an incredible voice and some serious chops on the piano.

From the press release for the Crocodile show: “Heather Duby was in an accident that crushed her right and her left hand. It was thought both hands might have to be amputated when she was first seen at the emergency room, but thanks to the expertise of the hand specialist team at UMDNJ Hospital, both hands were able to be saved. They are, however, substantially compromised.

She has undergone 7 surgeries to replace skin, bone and tendon, and still has at least 2 or 3 remaining. She did lose half of her right middle finger, and is currently waiting to have 3 tendons replaced in the left fingers. The surgery for tendon replacement is delayed until her recent skin graft surgery (which involves a 15 inch donor site from her leg) has healed enough to allow another invasive procedure.

She is unable to work or play music right now, and it will likely be a long period of time before this changes.”

It’s a real bum out that we had already committed to the Neumo’s show before knowing about this benefit show, and we’d hate to think that our show might pull people away from a great concert for a great cause. We’ve listed a link below to the details for the benefit show. And for those that don’t feel like show-hopping and will be at ours, we will have a donation jar at our merch table for her, we hope you will help.

Thanks everyone! - Russian Circles
